Clinch studs are self clinching externally threaded studs that are pressed into the base material. They are installed using a squeezing force on both sides of the fastener usually by a specialised pressing machine. The squeezing force dictates that the sheet metal surrounding the stud cold flows into the ribs on the underside of the stud making the fastener an integral part of the sheet. This creates a flushead assembly which locks the stud securely into the sheet metal.
