PART Threaded Hex Bolts to DIN931 / ISO4014

Hexagon bolts are used to fasten together various materials or to be fastened into pre-tapped holes. They have a six-sided head which allows them to be installed via a socket wrench or a spanner. They are also known as part threaded hex bolts or sometimes hexagon shoulder bolts.

These hex head bolts have part of the shank unthreaded, which makes the bolt stronger. On metric bolts, the thread length can be calculated by multiplying the diameter by 2 and adding either 6mm or 12mm (depending on the length of the bolt). The shoulder length can then be calculated by subtracting the threaded length from the overall length of the bolt.

This product range is available in grade 8.8 steel with either a self-colour (S/C) or zinc-plated finish (Z/P) with the zinc plating offering more corrosion protection.

Hexagon head bolts are available in high tensile steel. These hex bolts are manufactured from High tensile Grade 8.8 steel as standard, but extra-high tensile Grade 10.9 bolts are also available for critical applications. If you have a requirement for these higher grades please see our 10.9 bolt category or contact our sales desk on 0191 2645333.

Part-threaded hex bolts are only threaded on part of the bolt's length. The unthreaded shank joins the threaded shank and the head, preventing strain on the unthreaded part. This design makes the bolt stronger and less likely to break.

Hex head bolts are versatile and adaptable, making them suitable for a wide range of uses across different industries. Examples of uses for hex head bolts include screws for wood, metal, and many other materials and environments.

They have good tensile strength, and the most common styles can be used in a variety of locations (depending on the material and finish).
